Joshua Holtzclaw Was Arrested in Moss Landing for Trenten Black Death

Following a physical altercation at Moss Landing Harbor that resulted in the murder of a local fisherman, detectives from the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office have taken 29-year-old Joshua Timothy Holtzclaw into custody.

While on the seas of Moss Landing Harbor, Joshua is accused of voluntarily taking the dear life of Trenten Paul Black, age 26 of Aptos.

What Happened To Trenten Paul Black

According to an eyewitness, the incident occurred on June 11th, 2025.

The collision between two boats was reported to California State Parks officers and Monterey County Sheriff’s Deputies just before 9:00 on the same day. According to witnesses, there was a physical altercation after one boat operator climbed onto the other’s vessel.

The victim, Trenten, was struck with a stick during the struggle and fell into the lake, never to be seen again.

At around 1:20 PM, the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team located and recovered his body from the port with the help of the U.S. Coast Guard and a SONAR device.

To ascertain Black’s cause of death, a forensic investigation will be conducted.

Joshua is currently being jailed on a bail of $200,000.
