Following an incident at 34 Beach Street, the State Fire Marshal’s Office, Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, and Massachusetts State Police are conducting investigations.
After speaking with a number of witnesses on the scene in Wareham, investigators concluded that Robert Spagnuolo, a 70-year-old Massachusetts resident was putting off fireworks on the beach on Friday night, when one of them burst in his face, seriously injuring him.
Robert was unable to survive the devastating wounds even with prompt medical attention.
According to officials, Spagnuolo was declared deceased at the spot.
The incident took place in Wareham, a seaside town just west of Cape Cod, during a Fourth of July celebration. Despite their prompt arrival following the Beach Street explosion, emergency personnel declared him dead at the site at 9:30 p.m.
Now, investigators are trying to pinpoint the precise type of firework that was used and ascertain if it was permitted.

Since there is currently little information available on Robert’s death, investigators will provide any new information once it has been verified.
