It was announced Thursday afternoon that Pastor Voddie Tharon Baucham Jr., a pillar of the gospel and defender of God’s word, who was born on March 11, 1969, had died at the age of 56 following an emergency medical incident early on Thursday, September 25, 2025.

Reactions from Loved ones:

Voddie Baucham has passed into glory. May God raise up us Christian like him. John MacArthur, Charlie Kirk, and Voddie Baucham leave behind a legacy that will live on.”

American pastor, author, educator, and Reformed theologian Voddie Baucham is well-known for his focus on expository preaching, family discipleship, and biblical manhood.

He was renowned for his fearless preaching, persistent devotion to biblical truth, and ceaseless attempts to prepare the church for obedient living.

Although he was raised in a non-Christian household, he became a Christian while attending college and graduated with a B.A. from Houston Baptist University, an M.Div. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a D.Min. from the same institution. He founded Voddie Baucham Ministries in 1993 and served as the dean of theology at African Christian University in Zambia before becoming the pastor of Grace Family Baptist Church in Texas until 2015.

His ministry was not limited to the pulpit. Voddie’s ideas on biblical manhood, family discipleship, and cultural involvement challenged and encouraged believers all around the world. He was a prolific author, lecturer, and mentor.

He wrote books like *Family Driven Faith* and starred in documentaries like *American Gospel: Christ Alone*. He identified himself as a “fire-breathing, five-point Calvinist.” He returned to the United States in 2024 after being married to Bridget since 1989 and having nine children.

May the church remain strong on the basis he helped build.
