Corey Adams Dies Shooting

Five stars freshman football player for Ole Miss, according to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday, July 20, 2025, Corey Adams, an 18-year-old native of New Orleans who had been among the nation’s best defensive lineman prospects, was shot and killed Saturday night, July 19, outside a Tennessee home. Although they are not in severe condition, four more people were shot and sent to the hospital. There have been no arrests.

Ole Miss announced Adams’ passing, offered condolences, and asked the public to remember his family.

What Happened To Corey Adams

At a crossroads in Cordova, on the outskirts of Memphis, late Saturday at approximately 10:14 p.m., police discovered Adams inside a car with a gunshot wound, according to a statement from the sheriff’s office.

At the scene, more than 40 round casings from a handgun and rifle were discovered.

Adams, who recently joined the team this past winter, is a two-time all-state honoree from Edna Karr High School in New Orleans.

The Louisiana Sports Writers Association named Adams the 2024 5A defensive player of the year and twice chose him to the Class 5A all-state team. He was chosen as last season’s all-district defensive MVP by the Catholic League coaches.

In a news release, Corey’s mother begs the public for assistance in identifying the perpetrator of her son’s killing.
