On Sunday, September 28, 2025, in the Grand Blanc Mormon Church in Michigan, a 40-year-old Iraq war veteran named Thomas Jacob Sanford has been identified as the shooter who crashed his truck into the building, set it on fire, and started shooting.
Authorities confirm multiple injuries and two fatalities.
Before a gunshot was heard, witnesses attested that he had driven the pickup truck bearing two American flags into the structure.
Both his car and the area around the site included IEDs (improvised explosive devices). The suspect is no longer alive. Whether it was a self-inflicted gunshot is unclear.
The identified shooter is the subject of a lot of false information.
“The right in particular is trying to spin a narrative that isn’t proven in any way: that he was anti-Christian and that Christianity is therefore “under attack.”
Since authorities are currently conducting a comprehensive investigation into the fatal incident, few details have been made public regarding the cause of the attack.
