According to the San Diego Police Department, a shooting outside a hookah lounge in Kearny Mesa early on Friday, June 20, 2025, left one guy dead and a lady with injuries. Around 4:45 a.m., a shooting occurred in the Nara Ultra Lounge parking lot at 8065 Clairemont Mesa Blvd.
Two victims who had suffered serious injuries in the shooting were discovered at the scene by Eastern Division officers. San Diego Fire-Rescue officials took the two of them to a nearby hospital.
What Happened
Homicide detectives claim that an altercation that occurred during an event at the lounge caused the shooting. The public is still unaware of what led to the altercation.
The two victims were identified: a 37-year-old Black woman and a 21-year-old Hispanic man.
Once in the hospital, the 21-year-old Hispanic guy was pronounced dead. He was so badly hurt that he was unable to survive. After receiving treatment, the second victim—a 37-year-old Black woman—was allowed to leave the hospital.
The victims’ identities are being kept secret until their families have been notified.
The suspect is a Black man in his 20s, and the San Diego Police Department is currently requesting the public to keep a look out for him. He fled the area in an unidentified car.
Detectives are interviewing witnesses and looking over CCTV footage.
