Marites Buenafe, 62, of Lexington, is being sought by Alaskan authorities after she went on a hike after leaving a cruise ship and never came back. The Alaska State Troopers posted a missing persons bulletin stating that she was on board the Norwegian Bliss.
She failed to return to the cruise liner, and at around 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1st, 2025, she was reported missing in Juneau, Alaska. Around 7:30 on Tuesday morning, she contacted her family to let them know that she was on her way up Mount Roberts Trainway and that she would be hiking Gold Ridge to Gastineau Peak.
She was captured on security tape leaving the buildings at the same hour from the top of Mount Roberts Trainway.
Since she has not yet been found, searches in the region have been fruitless. The search for her continues even as troopers take all necessary precautions.

She weighs roughly 118 pounds and is 5 feet tall. She has brown eyes and black hair. She is free of tattoos, scars, and markings.
