The victim of Sunday, September 7, 2025’s fatal shooting was named as 21-year-old DaShayla Jones, a mother of a 4-year-old. Officers claim that the incident had place at the Malibu Jacks in North Richland Hills, Texas. When officers arrived, they discovered DaShayla dead. After suffering non-life-threatening injuries, a second victim was transported to the hospital.
The shooting occurred inside the entertainment facility shortly before it closed at midnight due to an altercation. Tychriston Reed, 18, is charged with drawing a gun and shooting two individuals, DaShayla and the unnamed victim, after the altercation broke out and spilled into the parking lot.
When the incident occurred, two off-duty North Richland Hills police officers were nearby; one of them fired back, but did not hit Reed.
Before paramedics arrived, the other officer attempted to assist the victims, even bandaging the male victim’s wounds. According to the police, Reed was taken into custody in a nearby city.
Reed is charged with four counts of aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon, two counts of reckless endangerment of a child, two counts of aggravated assault against a public officer, and murder.
Nobody is entirely sure what started the fight, how many people were involved, or whether the victims and the suspect knew one another at this point. Additionally, it’s unclear how many people were there at the entertainment center when the shooting occurred. At least two children were there, according to Reed’s accusations.
The public will be informed as soon as new information becomes available; the investigation is still ongoing.
