The man who died in a crash in Waimanalo on Saturday night, September 20, 2025, has been identified by the Honolulu medical examiner as Fullerton Pokipala, also known as Hopena, 30, of Kailua.
The tragic collision happened on Kalanianaʻole Highway near Bell Street. What caused the crash hasn’t been made public yet.
Hopena was a successful merchant, a community leader, a beacon of hope for the young generations. Before his tragic demise, he was a loving husband who probably would have become a father.
In addition to being a handsome young man on the outside, he had many other extraordinary gifts and was adored and cherished by many.
“Hopena’s fate is not one that any one could have imagined. Let his destiny and legacy be known of a man that was humble even tho he carried immense gifts. A man who loved and lived passionately. RIP young man”
“HOPENA” in hawaiian translates to many words with similar meanings. Destiny. Fate. The Ending or Result of something.
