The body of missing hiker Esther Keiderling was found by search teams, Maine Game Wardens, a MASAR technical rescue team (Maine Association of Search and Rescue), Baxter State Park Rangers, and other trained rescue personnel in a wooded area between two known trails off the Tablelands on Tuesday, June 4, 2025, at around 1:00 p.m.
While trekking with her father, Tim Keiderling, close to the peak of Mount Katahdin on Sunday, June 1, 2025, Esther vanished.
What Happened To Esther Keiderling & Tim Keiderling
According to authorities, on Sunday, Tim and his daughter Esther set out on a day hike up Mt. Katahdin in Maine. When the family did not hear from them that evening, authorities were alerted. After extensive search and rescue efforts, Tim was found deceased on Monday June 3 around 2:45 p.m. local time, officials said.
There were twenty-one Baxter State Park Rangers, four game warden K9 teams, and twenty-five game wardens at the search site. Helicopters from the Maine Army Guard and Maine Forest Service also helped with the search and crew transportation to the summit.
After Esther’s father was found on June 3, the hunt for her started early on Tuesday morning with helicopters. At around 8:00 am, ground searchers started looking for Esther.
The rangers, police, helicopter units, K-9 teams, and volunteers who worked tirelessly throughout the search are much appreciated by the Keiderling family.
“Although our brother Tim was taken from us all too soon, we know Tim loved Jesus and is now in eternity with Him. We also ask for your prayers for our family, particularly Tim’s wife, Annemarie, and their other children, Timothy, Katherine, Heidi, Sophie, and Karl.” they said.
