Sadly, a corpse has been found by police divers who have been scouring a section of the River Avon in Chippenham since 21-year-old Sebastian Sailes vanished.

The community’s thoughts are with Sebastian’s family and friends at this very trying time, and his family has been updated on the most recent progress.

In due time, formal identification will occur.

Superintendent James Brain of Wiltshire Police stated: “Sebastian’s family will obviously be devastated by this development.”

Missing Post

On Thursday, February 27, at approximately 11.30 p.m., Sebastian was last saw leaving the Black Horse Pub and strolling up Lovers Walk in Chippenham.

It is believed that he travelled south on Avon Valley Walk in the direction of his Notton residence.

Wiltshire Police, volunteers from Lowland Rescue Oxfordshire and Wiltshire Search and Rescue, as well as specialised support teams from other forces, local companies, and support organisations, have been working nonstop to find Sebastian ever since he was reported missing.

That Sebastian’s search must come to this end is regrettable.

As more information becomes available, keep his family and close friends in your prayers.
