Arturo Gamboa Arrested In Connection To Arthur Folasa Ah Loo Death

Arturo Gamboa Shooting

According to information obtained from the Salt Lake City police department press conference on Sunday, June 15, 2025, 24-year-old Arturo Gamboa was taken into custody and charged with homicide. Not much else was known about him.

What Happened

Investigators said two individuals believed to be official protest peacekeepers had saw the suspect, Arturo, draw himself away from the crowd, move behind a wall, and brandish an AR-15-style pistol. Gamboa raised the gun into a shooting position and began to move toward the demonstrators.

Gamboa and Ah Loo were both hit by three shots fired from a revolver by one of the troops in retaliation. The other victim, a well-known Samoan fashion designer, Arthur Folasa Ah Loo, 39, also known as Afa Ah Loo, tragically died from his gunshot wounds at a nearby hospital after Gamboa suffered a non-life-threatening wound to his belly.

The peacekeeper may have fired the round that struck Ah Loo, but even if that turns out to be true, Gamboa would still face criminal murder charges.

Celebrated for his artistic ability and sense of cultural pride, Ah Loo was accidently hit by gunfire while peacefully participating in the demonstration.

Remember, the inquiry is still in progress. Details are still preliminary as a thorough investigation is conducted.
