Authorities suspect the body recovered from the East River on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, around 12:29 p.m., is that of Montrell Williams, a 2-year-old who had gone missing since May 10. The body was discovered in the waters close to the Whitestone Bridge in the Bronx’s Ferry Point Park.
According to the sources, the NYPD sent dive teams to explore the region on Monday night but were unable to find anything. They were still searching on Tuesday before the body was located on Wednesday.
Authorities suspect Arius Williams, Montrell’s 20-year-old father, of being responsible for his son’s untimely death and have him in custody.
Arius who vanished during a custodial visit last month informed the mother of the child that he had thrown their son into the Bronx River. According to the sources, surveillance footage from that evening that purportedly showed Arius tossing a black bag into the river would support that allegation.
According to police and sources, Arius was ordered to be imprisoned without bail on a warrant for custodial interference on Monday after he refused to disclose his son’s location to a family court judge.
Further information will be forthcoming soon as the story continues to develop.
