San Diego Police Department (SDPD) Officer Joshua Duarte, who joined the department in 2019 and spent the majority of his career with our Southeastern Division, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 5, 2025, after what has not yet been made public. The news was made public on Monday, September 8, 2025.
In addition to his commitment as a United States Marine and an SDPD officer, he will be remembered for his playful personality, strong sense of family pride, and Hawaiian and Filipino ancestry.
On their Facebook page, the San Diego Police Department expressed gratitude to Officer Joshua Duarte for his service to the City of San Diego and the Southeastern neighborhood.
More information has not yet been released, hence the reason of death has not been made public.
