On Monday, June 16, 2025, the public was notified that Brittney Harville Sherman, 27, of Wilmer, who had been missing since Saturday, June 14, had been discovered dead. Authorities say her body was found in Bayou Sara on Monday morning.
After she and her family were engaged in a horrific watercraft accident involving another boat that was being driven by a 52-year-old Wilmer man, Brittney vanished. They were unable to find her following the horrific event. Her younger son was admitted to intensive care as well.
She leaves her devoted husband and four young children behind. One of their four children is still in critical condition, her husband is still healing from severe injuries, and he must now deal with the daunting prospect of raising their four children without her.
Already, $40,000 of the $75,000 in the GoFundMe page has been raised to support Brittney’s husband Cody and their four children at this difficult time.
