Warwick Avenue near Henry Street is blocked by Cranston Police while they look into a shooting that occurred in Garden City earlier on Wednesday, July 9, 2025. A man was shot by three suspects as he was leaving LA Fitness, and the shooting took place in the parking lot outside the gym.
Police claim that the attack was well targeted and that no one was harmed by the (at least) five shots fired.
Later, Rhode Island State Police followed a suspicious car they had seen on I-95 into the Providence Place Mall parking garage. Three people were arrested, according to authorities, and a handgun was found.
The scene is still in progress. At the intersection of Park Avenue, traffic is being rerouted.
In order for investigators to complete their work effectively, everyone is advised to stay away from the area. Shootings in the Garden City area are uncommon, and the cause of the incident is still unknown.
