If you plan to spend a lot of time outdoors, you should always have some medical training, such as CPR and wilderness first aid.
Everyone should be aware of the signs of hypothermia, how to administer CPR, stop bleeding, apply a tourniquet, and splint a broken arm or leg.
A first aid package for wilderness emergencies should always be carried, along with a pocket knife, three fire-starting methods, a poncho, a reflective survival blanket, 25–50 feet of paracord, a whistle and signaling device, and a method for collecting and filtering water.
