Friday, June 6, 2025, the public was informed that the remains of 17-year-old missing girl Pheobe Bishop had been found, ending the frenzied hunt for her. Authorities in Queensland say that Pheobe’s remains were found on Friday at around 2:30 p.m. close to Good Night Scrub National Park, southwest of Bundaberg.
The Good Night Scrub National Park, which is an hour’s drive from the airport, is where Pheobe was supposedly slain and her body was transported multiple times.
Officers focused their search on the park based on phone data, according to authorities. They claimed that their earlier searches of the area had revealed material that might have been relocated before the officers arrived.
Suspects In Pheobe Bishop Death
James Wood, 34, and Tanika Bromley, 33, two housemates, has been charged in court for Pheobe’s death. They each face two counts of tampering with a corpse and murder charges.
Three weeks to the day when Pheobe missed her trip and disappeared, they were taken into custody on Thursday evening, June 5.
According to police, the two drove the 17-year-old in a grey Hyundai toward the airport, but nobody got out.
Wood’s SUV has been taken away by the police for forensic examination. Police believe they know why Pheobe was allegedly murdered, the detective said.
Before this sad occurrence met her, Pheobe Bishop had booked a trip to Western Australia to see her partner. It is currently unknown what caused the tragic event, however she was last seen near Bundaberg airport at around 8.30am on May 15.
In the days ahead, the Gin Gin community will host a vigil in honor of Pheobe.
Pheobe Bishop’s mother, Kylie Johnson, said she was ripped apart after police confirmed the discovery. She posted on Facebook: “I didn’t think my heart could break anymore than it did when you went missing, or when the charges were laid but this! This is ripping me apart”
Detectives have set up a crime scene where the body was found and continue to appeal for further information.
